Accepting requests and providing information (ENG)


According to the requirements of Article 19 of the Law, requests for information may be submitted at the discretion of the requester in oral, written, or other forms (by mail, fax, phone, or email). The request can be individual or collective. A written request is submitted in any form.

 The acceptance of requests and the provision of access to public information is conducted in a specially designated place located on the 1st floor of the Office of the Prosecutor General at the address: 01011, Kyiv, 13/15 Ryznitska Street (entrance to the central office is provided from the side of Husovskyi Street - "Citizen Reception").

Work with information requesters is conducted during working hours.

Requests for information can be submitted to:

- by filling out the electronic request form

The request for information must contain:

1) the name (title) of the requester, postal address or email address, as well as a contact number, if available;

2) a general description of the information or the type, title, details, or content of the document regarding which the request is made, if known to the requester;

3) a signature and date if the request is submitted in written form.

To simplify the procedure for submitting written requests for information, the Office of the Prosecutor General has developed a Form for submitting a request for public information, which can be obtained at the "Citizen Reception" of the Office of the Prosecutor General: 13/15 Ryznitska Street, Kyiv, 01011, and on this website.

If, for valid reasons, a person cannot submit a written request, assistance will be provided in preparing the request by a responsible employee of the public information request review department, who will necessarily indicate their name, contact phone number, and provide a copy of the request to the person who submitted it.

Information in response to a request is provided free of charge.

If fulfilling the request for information involves producing copies of documents exceeding 10 pages, the requester is obliged to reimburse the actual costs of copying and printing.

When providing a person with information about themselves and information that is of public interest, no fees for copying and printing are charged.

According to Article 23 of the Law of Ukraine "On Access to Public Information," decisions, actions, or inaction of information holders can be appealed to the head of the holder, a higher authority, or a court.

Appeals against decisions, actions, or inaction of information holders to the court are carried out in accordance with the Code of Administrative Court Procedure of Ukraine.

According to Article 17 of the Law of Ukraine "On Access to Public Information," parliamentary control over the observance of the human right to access information is exercised by the Commissioner of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine for Human Rights, temporary investigative commissions of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, and members of the Parliament of Ukraine.
